Knowledge and Attitude of Refractive Errors among Nationalized Bank Employees of Belagavi City who use Computer for a Long Time: A Cross-sectional Study
Abstract
Background: Computer has an integral part and found in offices, banks, college, shops, hotels, institutes, etc., by adopting these advanced technologies and we made our lifestyle very easy and comfortable. In the 21st century, technology has been advanced, among these advanced technologies, computer has the first place forever and computer vision syndrome (CVS) is a number one occupational problem of professional computer users. Objective: The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge and attitude of the nationalized bank employs toward refractive errors. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 180 nationalized bank employees in Belagavi city, in which five respondents had rejected due to insufficient information. The remaining 175 respondents had utilized in data analysis. Results: The result showed that there were 85 (48.6%) of employees between the age of 26 and 30 years, 34 (19.4%) were between the age of 31 and 35 years and 29 (16.6%) were between the age of 20 and 25 years, 27 (15.4%) were between the age of 36 and 40 years and a total of 118 (67.4%) were male employees and 57 (32.6%) were female employees. More numbers of employees were completed undergraduate 110 (62.9%) and less numbers of employees were completed postgraduate 65 (37.1%). A total of 128 (73.1%) employees had known the condition of CVS and only 47 (26.9%) had not known condition of CVS. Conclusion: Bank employees of our study area (Belagavi city) had more known about the CVS as compared with the other study and most of the employees had aware through the internet.
